The heat is here & aliens arrive 06/03/2011
The heat is here. Glad the alpacas have been sheared already. The heat, humidity, and flies are getting bad now. We found out that the boys really enjoy water. I have caught Thunder standing in the water bucket several times, so we gave him a kiddie pool one day and he loved splashing in it. He was the only one interested but I'm sure that as the heat wears on, the other boys will want to join him. Its also time for the June Phat Fiber box. This months theme is Sci Fi, so I made little alpaca aliens to send in as samples. Full size aliens & coordinating sock yarn & roving will be in the shop soon. Add Comment Phat fiber batts!! 05/04/2011
I just finished up my first contribution for the Phat Fiber box (www.phatfiber.com). This is a box that a wonderful woman puts together monthly, containing samples from different independent fiber artists. There is a community for these boxes at http://www.ravelry.com/groups/phat-fiber-sampler-box These boxes appear on at a predetermined date and time and literally sell out within seconds!!! They are an awesome publicity tool for your farm because if you contribute a minimum amount of samples you get included in a you tube video and promo materials for the box. The theme for May is "Spice Market" so I carded up some .3oz mini batts that I called "Paca pizza seasonings" which have brown alpaca, bamboo, angelina (sparkle) and a bit of camel, merino, silk & sari threads. People will then be able to go to my etsy store to buy a larger sized batt if they like what they see, it should be fun. Next month is Sci-Fi, I've already dyed some alien green alpaca for a project for it. Here are some pictures of our samples. | Spotted Circus
